Monthly Inventory: March 2017

March 2017

This month has been absolute BANANAS! So little reading, so little blogging and so much work!

See, I started my new job this month and even though I will only be working part-time, I have 6 weeks of full time training to complete. Add to that a 2 hour daily commute: it’s been quite the adjustment. In fact, I’ve drafted a post about the transition from student to adult to be posted in the next few weeks. But I have to say, it’s fantastic not to have to study anymore!

So March wasn’t a great month all around for my hobbies (though looking at my stats, I guess I did better than I think) but I’m hoping April will bring back some balance…and more reading!

Total for March 2017: 16 Books Read + 3 Novellas Read

Last March: 16 Books Read + 4 Novellas Read
DNF’d: 5 Books

Standout Read (★★★★★)

I had a BLAST listening to the audiobook! Seriously, I felt all the feels. One minute I was laughing, the next swooning and the next shedding a bit of a tear. Such a fantastic novel! It’s one of my all time favourite novels.

Biggest Let Down (DNF)

I was so excited to read this one because we see the start of this relationship begin in the inaugural novel. But I was 40% of the way through and nothing–and I mean nothing–was happening. Sigh.

kobostats

I thought it would be fun to keep track of my reading progress on my Kobo every month (and compare it to last year’s numbers). While I do own a Kindle now, I mostly use my Kobo for everyday reading. As per my #ShelfLove Challenge, I really want to increase the Total % of Library Complete by the end of the year.

As of:

March 31, 2017

March 31, 2016

Total % of Library Complete

20%

17%

Total # of Books Finished

542

452

Total # of Reading Hours

2289

1808

Fun Fact: In order for me to move 1% in my Kobo library, I have to finish 10 books!

The blogsophere is so big that it’s hard to catch everything that is happening so I wanted to share some posts that caught my eye in the last month.

I didn’t really listen to any music this month…how sad is that?!

  • Thanks for linking to my post!

  • Looks like you had a good reading month. But I’m so sorry you didn’t enjoy Pucked, I was actually looking forward to it after reading Clipped Wings duology by Helena Hunting. Nonetheless, hope you have an amazing April! Happy reading!

    • You know, my reading turned out better than I expected! For a while it felt like I wasn’t reading at all but adding audiobooks really helped balance it out.
I really did enjoy Pucked when I read it earlier in the year but the other books in the series just felt like the same book all over again. Maybe if I had read them closer to reading Pucked it would have ended differently. Still give it a shot I’d say!

  • You managed to have a good reading month despite doin all the transition from student to working life, this is awesome! I get how hard it is, especially with the commute, I need to do the same and it’s no fun, I actually miss studying haha.
I hope you will have a great April! <3

    • It turned out to be a better month than I thought. I really felt like I wasn’t reading at all though.
I don’t miss the actual studying but I suppose I miss the routine. I get easily distracted and I found studying was something that helped me stick to a schedule 😛

  • I hope you’re enjoying the job! I seriously need to read Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda. I don’t think I’ve heard a single bad thing about it!

    • Thank you! The job has been great so far!
It’s a fantastic novel! It really blew away all my expectations 🙂
