Site: National Novel Writing Month Announcement

Since I was a little kid, I’ve always enjoyed creating stories but I haven’t been really good at writing them. I always start with the best intentions in the world, but I can never seem to reach that finish line.

This past summer, I was going to sign up for Wattpad in order to give myself some motivation to finish some of the many stories I’ve had brewing for the past few years. But that didn’t happen thanks to a busy work schedule and life getting in the way.

So, when I saw that November was National Novel Writing Month, I was intrigued. In terms of school, November isn’t too heavy exam wise. Plus, if I can find the time to write a 500 word blog post on a semi-daily basis, I think I can find the time to write that many words for a novel; especially when all my posts for November are already written and scheduled.

The Mission:

As per the National Novel Writing Month Website:

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing.

On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.

My plan:

Ultimately, I want to reach that 50,000 word count and I think I can do it with my one story idea. In fact, I know I can because I had tentatively finished that book years ago. However, I have some major changes I want to add to it and so I want to restart from scratch. But I also have a few other ideas that I might find more inspiring to go with. I’ll be spending this week coming up with some game-plans before I make my ultimate decision.

I have to be realistic and I know that school and my extra-curricular actives can readily derail my intentions. If I write every day in November, I will need to write 1667 words a day. Totally doable in theory but probably not so much in practice and so I need to be aware of that.

In summary:

I’m really excited to start this! Even if I don’t reach that 50,000 word page, I’m hoping it will inspire me to write again.
