Riffle Lists: Canadian Authors

Riffle is an independent book site that keeps track of what books you are reading and want to read. It’s similar to GoodReads but it keeps things simple and is super easy to use. One of my favourite features is the ability to create and share lists! It is a great way to create your own list of books that have a certain theme for your own records AND a fantastic way to discover new books through other users’ lists!

As you may or may not know, 2017 is a big year for Canada, my home country. We’re celebrating our 150th anniversary of independence and general awesomeness.

We’ve been celebrating since January 1st truthfully, in some way or another. All our National Parks are free for ANYONE to visit in 2017 and boy, are they worth visiting! Canada is a beautiful country that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. So if you’ve ever wanted to come visit, now’s the time!

But today in particular is super special because July 1st is our national holiday to celebrate the “birth of our nation”. So I thought it would be fun to list some of my favourite Canadian authors to celebrate the occasion!

Read my reviews on their works:

Lesley Livingston  |  Kelley Armstrong  |  Piper Lawson  |  Kelly Bowen  |  Cindy Anstey  |  Elle Kennedy  |  J C Hannigan  |  Alyxandra Harvey  |  Elisabeth Grace  |  Adrienne Kress  |  Helena Hunting  |  K A Tucker  |  Jacqueline E Garlick

I could go on and on about my wonderful country but I’ll let these videos do my talking for me:

Do we share some favourites? Let me know!

  • I love Kelley Armstrong so much. I have been thinking of rereading Darkest Powers for a while. That series was one of my favourites when I was a teenager.

Also I loved her adult books because they had all the sex. I’m just saying. When I was sixteen I was like THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER. Haha. In my local library they accidentally put the Bitten series next to Darkest Powers.

    • haha I totally read the Bitten series before I should have too. She writes some steamy moments for sure!

  • I’ve never read any Canadian lit and I, honestly, don’t think I’ve read much by Canadian authors either. But I do want to try too read more books by Canadian authors or ones that are at least set in Canada. (Have you heard of Beartown by Frederik Backman? I believe that one is set up there and I have it on my TBR list.) And I didn’t know Kelley Armstrong was Canadian! I really liked her Darkest Powers series when I was a teenager. It’s been so long since I’ve last read any of her work.

(Lol, I think I may have said Canada or a variation of it a bit too much in this comment. Oh well.)

Anyway, thank you for sharing this list, Lauren!

    • I’ve never heard of Beartown–I will have to check it out! I have such a hard time finding books set in Canada. The most recent one I’ve found is Kelley Armstrong’s Rockton Mystery Series.

And you can never say Canada enough 😛 Though it does start to sound funny after a while I think haha
