Like most of you, I probably have started more series than I have finished and my to-read pile is always growing. This year, I wanted to challenge my reading by participating in some new reading challenges. With this challenge hosted by Novel Heartbeat & Writer Grrl Reads I hope to make that sequel pile a little smaller by the end of 2015! Also, this just seems like a challenge that the writer of a book series review blog just needs to partake in 😉

Final Wrap-up
UPDATED (December 31/2015): At first I thought I managed to reach my goal of 500 but when I transferred my table over to excel and added everything up, I was just short at 472. All and all, not a bad considering I had no idea how many books I would read this year, let alone series I would finish. I’m not entirely confident that this challenged helped me to read more series, it definitely did encourage me to be more aware of what I was reading and make more of an effort to finish the occasional book. While I won’t be doing this challenge in 2016, it was a great one!
UPDATED (March 11/2015): I managed to reach 100 points in only three months–so I guess the challenge helped me tackle some sequels that had been sitting in my TBR pile! I’ve decided to push myself a little harder to see if I can surpass 250 points!
UPDATED (July 4/2015): Once again, I’ve underestimated myself! I’ve surpassed my second goal and still have a lot more series to read! (It comes with the territory of operating a book-series blog). So, I’ve decided to double my previous goal seeing as it took me approximately 7 months to accumulate 250 points, I want to see if I can do the same in the next 6 months!

The Challenge:
To read as many prequels and sequels as you can. You set your goal at whatever number works for you.
The Rules:
- The challenge runs from January 1st to December 31st.
- Any books started before Jan. 1 will not count.
- All books in a series count for points (see below)
- Novellas count, either prequels or sequels (i.e. #0.5, #1.5, #2.5, etc).
- Books can be of any publication date. They don’t have to be released in 2015.
- In order to get 10 points for a completed series, there must be at least 3 full-length books in the series.
- You can still get sequel points for a duology, you just can’t get the 10 bonus points for finishing it.
