Winter 2016 Edition
The Perfect Match: A seasonal feature where I play matchmaker but with books! What happens when you take Book A and combine it with Book B? The answer is Book C!
For the new year I’m doling out 3 Young Adult pairings for all genre fans!
Why This Match?
Take the handsome, mysterious paranormal love interest from Twilight and give the book a darker and more sinister edge like Sweet Evil and you’ve got yourself Falling Under. Though the paranormal aspects in all these books differ (ie what the creatures the characters are) I think fans of one will enjoy the others.
Why This Match?
The domed controlled city in Breathe really reminded me of the cities Aria comes from in Under the Never Sky. As for Divergent, I found the premise of it and Under the Never Sky were very similar: the search for something better after being lied to by government officials for their entire lives.
Why This Match?
In The Vincent Boys, Ashton is torn between two cousins who she has known and loved all her life; much like Molly is with the Donnelly Brothers in 99 Days. But like Ally in She’s So Dead to Us, Molly has returned to town after a scandal that everyone knows and remembers–and one that no one wants her to forget.
When I saw Marine Vacth at TIFF in September for the North American premiere of Families, I spent the entire time trying to figure out who she looked like! Sometimes, she looks like a young Natalie Portman or Julia Roberts as well.
This is so fun! I loved how you combined the books, yay to book suggestions.
Thank you! This is always one of my favourite posts to create for that reason 🙂
I’ve always been curious about Sweet Evil! There are definitely some elements of the Twilight series I really liked (I’m a huge fan of paranormal romance) and you mentioned that Sweet Evil is darker/edgier…do you think it comes across as to laden with YA paranormal tropes, or is it worth the read?
I really enjoyed Sweet Evil. It’s probably one of my favourite paranormal YA stories. It has a mature, darker edge to it that I really enjoyed. Plus, I didn’t find it to be a rehash of all the other paranormal series out there so I highly recommend it 🙂
