Why I Picked it Up / My Expectations:

I love a good “hate to love” you romance and when I read the overview for this series, I couldn’t wait to see what Winter had in store!

The Concept / The World:

The novels are loosely connected by the heroines’ friends group but you can read all these stories independently. The main connector is simply the idea of letters or notes or messages being a catalyst for the romance in each of the novels.

The Plot:

I had some hits and misses with the plot in this series. In Hate Mail (#1), I didn’t love the final twist; I thought it was a little unnecessary and didn’t really add anything to the story other than melodrama. In Yours Cruelly (#2), I felt like the synopsis was slightly misleading. It made me think something that the pregnancy mentioned in the synopsis was the main focus of the story when it really doesn’t come into play until way later in the novel (I think it should have been left as a mystery to the reader). Dear Stranger (#3) was a perfect hit.

But each story has a some great little twists along the way to keep things interesting and I never really lost interest in any of these stories.

The Characters:

Overall, I really liked all these characters. I thought each of our leads had great depth and dimension to them. I want to see my characters evolve as the story and plot develops and I think that is achieved here.

The Romance:

All of these stories have explosive chemistry from the start but a slow burn when it comes to the deeper feelings. I loved that! I had so much fun watching the leads slowly peel back the layers and realize that the other person is their perfect match.
